Koopa Troopa

Playing with the cars from Uncle Travis, Aunt Sherry and Reid. Gavin likes to ask who is riding in the cars and where they are going. Here is a snippet of tonight's adventures.

The Bean is 2!

We had a great time celebrating Gavin's birthday on Wednesday. Justin came home from work early and we started the party off with a Thomas the Train themed cake. Gavin loved it. His first responses were "can I have that thomas" and "does thomas's wheels work?"

After eating cake (and trying to get all of the blue icing cleaned up), we headed upstairs to the toy area to open presents. It was a mini-christmas for Gavin! He opened the first gift, a car transporter truck for his matchbox cars, and proceeded to play with it for awhile on his table. After a few minutes, we asked if he was ready to open another present. His response: "ok." The next gift, a new set of matchbox cars. Back to the table to play with these cars for a few minutes. We ask again: "Do you want to open another present?" His response: "ok." Finally after the third present, he got the idea and wanted to open the rest of them. Of course after the last present was opened he said "more presents to open?" Each day since then he asks if there are any more presents to open!

Thank you to everyone for the cards, gifts, and birthday wishes.

Smelly Feet

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post. I apologize to all of our faithful followers for the delay. And now on to the star of the show.

Gavin has become quite the chatter box. I think he asks about a thousand questions a day. When we are out in public, people often comment that he talks a lot for his age and I simply say...he takes after his dad. :)

Bathtub Toots

Last week, we spent a couple of days in San Antonio. On the last night of our stay, Gavin figured out how to make the bathtub "toot" by slowly pulling up the drain. It's hard to hear the drain noise because of his laughter. But it was too good not to post.

Back in Texas

After a wonderful and lengthy stay in Illinois, we are finally back at "Gavin's house." Gavin did a great job on the plane despite a two hour delay in St. Louis due to a storm that closed the airport for a short time. Luckily Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Joe stuck around to help me chase Gavin through the airport (The southwest ticket agent was kind enough to give them a guest pass so they could hang out at the gate with us). We were supposed to leave St. Louis around 1pm but didn't depart until after 3pm. Needless to say, we missed our connection in Dallas but were fortunate to get on the 5:40 flight and into Austin just before 7. It was a long day but we made it. Now we are trying to get back into our schedule and of course adjust to the heat. Plenty of sunshine and humidity has welcomed us back.

Here are a couple of pictures and a short video of Gavin's activities during our visit home. He has moved from making mud pies to chasing bubbles and playing in the sprinkler and pool.
